Star Wars Movies!The original Star Wars movie, written and directed by George Lucas came out in 1977. It was soon followed by The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and The Return of the Jedi (1983). More than a decade later, the original Star Wars trilogy still had such a cult following that George Lucas decided to to extend the trilogy with three prequels.
