| Wakeboarding is the extreme
sports' variant of water skiing, on, of course, a single wakeboard. Originally
called skurfing, it developed from surfers using their boards behind a
speedboat, and became popular when new wakeboard technology allowed
moves similar to those used in snowboarding and skateboarding to be
introduced.
After the first world championships, which were held in Hawaii in 89, the sport really matured and even produced a spin off called Wakeskating (smaller boards without the bindings that keep your feet to the board). Popular Wakeboarding tricks are the Skeezer, the X-Mobe , the Tootsie Roll, the Hasselhoff, and the Tweety Bird. Wakeboarding Links |
