|Although you need to have snow
to go snowboarding, which limits this extreme sports popularity compared
to skateboarding and inline skating, snowboarding is quickly becoming one
of the more popular winter sports. Whether you like the Superpipe, Slopestyle, Big Air or Jib Jam
events, extreme snowboarding is just pure fun to do and spectacular to watch.
In 1994 Snowboarding became an olympic sport, and in the 2002 Winter Olympics four different snowboarding competitions were run (the parallel giant slalom and the half pipe events for both men and women).
Snowboarding is actually more akin to skiing than it is to skateboarding. So, if you have any skiing experience, you are likely to pick up snowboarding pretty quickly. Still, it is probably wise to take some lessons from a qualified instructor if you never tried snowboarding before.
